About Us
Double Action Training Academy (D.A.T.A.) was founded by Professor Bob Anderson in Princeton, New Jersey in 1985 and became official in Bellingham, Washington in 1988.
D.A.T.A. was developed for the purpose of creating a system of self-defense that has no boundaries. It is not restricted to any one style. D.A.T.A. is a hybrid system that uses the principles of its mother style, Kajukenbo.
Kajukenbo is a blend of five styles. The Ka in Kajukenbo stands for Karate, Ju stands for Judo and Jujitsu, Ken stands for Kenpo and Bo stands for Chinese boxing, better known as Gung Fu. The style of Kajukenbo was created by Adriano Emperado.
D.A.T.A. is comprised of three major styles. Kajukenbo (from Grand Master Allen Rayes), Chinese Kenpo (from Professor Walter Godin), and Wing Chun (from Sijo James Demiles).
D.A.T.A. also includes Arnis (Datu Kelly S. Worden), Boxing (from James Ferguson), Hwarang Do (from Bob Dugan at Executive Security International), defense tactics (from police, military, and government agencies). In short, D.A.T.A. uses ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING THAT WORKS.
D.A.T.A. is one of the most progressive, realistic self-defense systems in the world.
D.A.T.A. is not commercial Karate and is not a sport. Its focus is practically and realism.
In practice, principle and philosophy, D.A.T.A. develops you physically, mentally and spiritually.
Above all, D.A.T.A. WILL MAKE YOU A SURVIVOR.
